What’s the best way to strap behind vertical wood siding

We’re planning to put wood ‘channel’ siding run vertically on our cabin. We know we need strapping behind it. What’s the most economical (least labour /materials) way to do this? Any suggestions or tricks would be greatly appreciated.
Have a good night! Thanks.

you can do it in two ways.In two layers the first being vertical, then horizontal onto, or you can apply it on the diagonal if there won't be face nails visible. Both allow for drainage
