The view from the great room into the kitchen is shown below. The project is a two-level-plus-loft high end lakefront condo, with a pricetag somewhere in the $1.3M stratosphere. Some discriminating buyer (it is being built on spec) will decide whether our decision was the right one.
The question is about the pantry closet door, the two-panel tall one shown on the R in the pic. Should it be the same style and species as everything in the kitchen, or should it simply be a 6-panel pine door as is going into every other interior door frame in the project?
Kitchen-front species is as of yet undecided, but is likely to be CVG doug fir, with the center panels beaded on 1.25″ centers. A raised-panel pine door will look quite different from the kitchen finish, but on the other hand, it will save the developer money. What would you do?

Is the pantry in question a "cabinet" or a closet style pantry? How many units are you talking here. Saving money on cabinetry of million dollar condo?
The two-panel door shown is 24 inches wide. The trim surround is 11/16 x 3-1/2 CVG doug fir and matches the trim scheme everywhere.
That 2/0 door width will be the same, whether it is on a 24-deep frameless cabinet with full-extension pullout trays, or whether the cheaper route is chosen, and a 6-panel pine door is put on a 24-deep closet with fixed shelves.
Perhaps just using a face frame with door mounted would save money. Fixed shelves inside.
And like the prev poster stated, save money on this job?
Your choices as presented amount to a hill of beans overall.
How about putting some decorative (obscure) glass instead of wood panels? Break it up a bit, and it isn't a direct match for the kitchen or the rest of the interior doors.

I would definitely match that door to the kitchen cabinets.
It looks like the pantry closet doesn't go all the way to the finished floor, which makes it seem even more like cabinet than interior doorway.
