How soon can I stain? My brother the painter says wait a year, I’ve heard otherwise, anyone know? It will be a solid color, (white) when finished. Thanks all.

After a dry spell.

If you want the stain to have a good surface to adhere to, within two weeks. Longer, and the sun's uv breaks down the wood surface, which prevents it holding paint or pigmented stain for long.
You can wait longer, but they you must sand it down before staining.

Flood also has a product to apply right away which is topped with a coating later, "Seasonite" I think

IMO and experiance, within a few weeks after installation if wood was wet or sooner if it was dry. Sealing treated lumber asap after installation retards warping.
