Need some leads, I’m about to spring for a Hitachi NV75AG coil nailer and I need a good supplier, I’ve found a couple, but so far no one seems to have 3″ galvanized nails (????) just the smaller sizes. I’ve heard http://manasquanfasteners.com/ mentioned several times but they only have stainless steel fasteners. While I’m at it, anyone want to recommend a vendor for the Hitachi? I pick up a check tonight and I want to push these orders out the door so I can hit the road running.

Hi Storme. Just a suggestion, but for nails that you're going to use a ton of or that come in big heavy boxes (like the framing nails you're looking for) you're probably going to want to find a local supplier. The shipping is gonna kill you on those boxes of bigger nails.
I try to just buy specialty fasteners on line. Things that I can't find readily locally or that I don't use too many of. I buy most of my SS screws and finish nails online because I don't need a large amount at once. Maybe a box of SS 15 guage nails or a couple 1000 screws. But cases of framing nails? Yikes.
Are you just looking for one box or something? Maybe you could have a local yard order some for you? Shouldn't be a problem as you're looking for a pretty common nail that will be available under many different labels that will fit that coil nailer.
thanks for the suggestion, I've been trying to get things online as it's easier to do the research, the selection is better and once I've found a supplier it's faster than driving around town but you're probably right on this one. Amazon has free shipping so it doesn't have to kill ya, that said, a persistant complaint in the amazon forums is that the nails arrive damaged. oh well. Hope my local suppliers has 3" galv coil nails!
If he doesn't, I'll bet he'll order them for you. They're pretty popular, so I'm sure he'll realize that it's not an item he'd get 'stuck with' if you never bought more yourself.
are you sure? I can't find them *anywhere* online. It's driving me nuts. One possibility is that these are the same nails as the NV65AC. I find 15 Degree Wire Weld Coil Nails in 3" sizes (at Senco for example) but their data sheet doesn't say these working with the NV75AG, just the NV65AC. Other places lists both together like: NV75AG/NV65AC which makes me think that nails that work with one will automatically work with the other. Arggh!
I don't want to steer you wrong, but all the nails I've ever bought that will run through both my NV75AG and my NV65AH, and that's both wire and plastic collated. The only nails I've found that are compatitble in one and not the the other are 3" as only the 75 will take up to a 3" nail
You're seeing a 3" nail listed as being compatible with a Hitachi NV65AC? I don't believe I know what an 65AC Hitachi is.... I've only ever heard of the 65AH.
Now I'm totally confused.... which gun do you have?
If you have an NV75AG.... look for a hot dipped galvy 3" coil nail compatible with the NV83A. The NV83A (and A2) are Hitachi's coil framing guns. The nail you are looking for is a coil framing nail. I'm betting all the nails you are looking at for the 65 and 75 are coil siding nails as that is what both those guns are primarily used for. Wire coils that fit in my coil framers also fit in my 75... as long as they're 3" or less, of course.
That help any?
very helpful, thanks. The sites I'm finding only list some of the Hitachi nailers and I guess the NV75AG is newer (?) so they don't list it yet. I've found a few 3" galvy nails but none of them say they'll fit in a NV75AG - they list other models but not that one.I haven't bought the gun yet, the deal is, I pick up a check tomorrow AM and then go on a shopping spree and get the stuff delivered so I can do the job. There's a lot of different pieces so my plan was to queue up a bunch of orders, send them off and then work on the other bits. I'm racing winter a bit here and the client is being slow getting back to me.The nails I saw listed for both were smaller sizes, not the 3".cheers,

Dear Storme:
I have ordered nails from DS Manco. I believe that their website is http://www.packagingandfastening.com (there might not be a www in front of the address). The shipping was reasonable (although not cheap) and fast. They seem to stock most fasteners.

thanks, much appreciated. -s
