I’ve seen carbon brushes for Skilsaws locally, but I haven’t found any brushes for my Milwaukee 18v stuff, or my Makita drills, or anything but my Skilsaw. For something like replacing brushes, I have no desire to take the stuff to a repair shop, but where can I find the parts? Thanks.

Contact Milwaukee Electric Tool and they will probably sell the parts to you.

Yeah, my Ace stores are fairly small and limited, but if I'd rather do that than swap a motor. No sense wasting a perfectly good motor for such a tiny part. I'll wander in there tomorrow.
you'll be surprised just how big that little store can be...their "catalog" is HUGE.I needed a tip for my Starrett plumb bob and they had two in three days.

that has to be one the best kept secrets in the country....I had no idea until I casually mentioned my boken part to the counter guy....I think they can get anything you can think of.

I've been doing something for years that I saw a good electric motor guy here in town do once. If you don't have the exact right brushes for your saw, etc you can take a file and re shape larger comparable brushes and you'll be surprised how easy it is.
I might get yelled at here for this but I've had great success at it. Right now I have adapted sets in my chop saw and a circular saw I think. (I came into a "cache" of brushes from a sale years ago).
And some motor shops can make them to fit.

When I needed to replace the brushes on my old Makita cordless - the ist, little one, maybe 6v - I discovered that they don't have just the brushes- you have to replace the entire motor. (It wasn't hard, even for me.)
