I’m looking to buy a Construction Master. I don’t know which to get- 5 or Pro. No trig. I don’t even know what that is.
What do you guys think? I’m not sure what applications apply to each.

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

I don'
t know what you'd use it for, but for me, if I get another, it will be a pro. The pro is what I use on the job. I have a couple handyman units in the house for estimating volumns and such, but have the CAD on PC too

I have all this crud in my head, doing it the "old way" and NOW ya tell me...
I still do the math in my head, even with a CM Pro..it lives in the console of the van for computing MPG, cuz my needle gage don't work right, it reads 3/4 full when I am suckkin fumes..so I tally the trip odo. when I fill up every day, yes, every day..while I drive, I do math..I know my vacuume advance ig timing and torque conv. lock saves me 1/2 cent per mile.

the IV comes up way short....
the V almost cover the bases....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
I use the pro never tried the others but I can say I really like the pro
I only wish the instructions were a little more detailed --Ive had mixed results with rafters using it too much trial and error never been able to figure out why the lengths dont come out right, tried looking on internet for a guide of someone using it. The final lenghth never was exactly right just got me in the ballpark.
stairs on the other hand have been money every time never messed one up since started using it
most of the other functions I dont really seem to need but when figuring out an estimate it can speed things along. On the job I like to most of the math in my head anyways to keep me sharp, but its always a good idea to check yourself if you need to.
All things considered If I lost it I would get another instantly
I found my lengths would be off, especially when going back and forth between standard and metric.
I finally figured out that you can change the min. fraction it
works in.
I think, the default is 1/16, but it will go much finer.
The darn thing is on the job, so I'll have to work from memory-
Turn it on-
Clear, clear-
Convert-
1,2,3,or 4- Each number is a different min.
i have the pro and the pro trig, both of which i love. make sure you spend some time reading/ experimenting and re reading it, you won't be sorry. i would say that a minescule amount of people get the most out of their construction master calc.
Every day is a gift, that's why it's called the present.
Just about any of the newer model CM's are really good, but if you don't want of need the trig, get the CMP model-4065 v3.1
But for just a few bucks more you could have trig just in case you ever need it ;-) CMP model-4080 v3.1
