I will be moving the drain for my bathtub to the opposite side of where it currently is. This means cutting up and then repouring that area (slab on grade)after I run the new pipe.
The house was built in 1960. Cast iron pipe, with galvie vent stacks. I’m not worried about the galvie too much, but what is the life expentancy of the cast iron? This is the furthest upstream link in the sewar stream.
While I’m there, tearing out – replacing – repouring, is there anything else I should consider doing or replacing?

From what I've seen in old houses, the cast iron will live on indefinitely.
If you plan on using a gas engine concrete saw to cut out that section, be sure to keep the area very well vented...with a powerful fan. Carbon monoxide kills brain cells, lots of them. And they aren't renewable. Not good for the heart and lungs either.
Time capsule? buic
Cast iron is generally good for 75-150 years. Galvanized about half that.
