I am in the progress of installing a whirlpool bath tub in a row home. Everything works fine, But the noise from the pump transmitted to the house is very loud. Any ideas on isolating the tub from the house and still be able to tile up to the edge? I intend to file the gap between the tiles and tub with bathroom silicon.
The tub is basically an oversize tub with two rails running full length with the motor and pump mounted across the end.

>You don't mention what you're planning for an access door so I'll mention that requirement first. You have to be able to to service that pump.
>The noise problem is probably being caused by too much vibration so lag bolt the tub to the floor joists or add some nailers for that purpose. Also make sure that the pump is securely bolted.
>DO NOT try to silence the pump by covering it with any insulating material. The pump's electric motor must vent it's heat or it'll have a very short life.
>Best Wishes for a succesful installation, Peter
