I need a little advice on white cedar shingles.
I will be residing my house soon up here in New England and I am using white cedar shingles. I have found in the past you get very little waste with extra’s so that decision I’ve made. We want the bleaching oil look so I’m looking for some input and experiences on pre-stained vs. natural and stain after they go up. The pre-stained are so expensive and this is about a 14 square project. I’m a hell of a brush so staining them would not take very long. Are there advantages besides the time to stain issue. Also looking for advice and experiences on fastening methods: stainless vs. galv. , hand nail or coil nailer or stapler. I know everybody has a different way, I’m just looking to see what results people have had.
Thanks.
