I’ve got an ugly detail that was missed in the design process.
I have a double gable with one gable on the right hand side forward 12″ of the other gable on the left. The problem is that the barge board comes down on the right hand gable and the fascia returns right into the window trim ( another 1″ lower and it would have hit the window) of window in the left hand gable.
I’m really kicking myself for not seeing it sooner as I would have changed the windows in some manner. But windows are here and I can not shift the opennings. I have prepared myself to live with this anoying flaw. But what will make it worse is when the gutter goes on; the down spout for that 12″ section of roof will cut right across the corner of the window before it returns to the wall.
Do I need a gutter for that amount of roof? ( it’s 12″ by about 9′) are there any other options instead of gutter and down spout. Or any other details or fixes for the fascia return.
any ideas appreciated

It would be easier to understand if you could post a picture. As for the gutter, you might watch what happens in the first few rains, and decide if you need it.

I would post a picture, however that is beyond my computer skills. plus I don't have a digital camera.
nevertheless. even if you can't picture the whole scenario the end result is that I have a 12" fascia returning into the top window trim which will look ulgy ( window and trim are not installed yet) and what will look worse will be looking out the window and having a down spout going across one corner of the window.
maybe that is what I will do - whatch the 1st rain falls and see if I need it.
PS. if I can get hold of camera and someone to help me upload the picture I will

At this stage of the game, can you still reduce the eave overhang on the gables in this viscinity? thus raising the elevation of your facias.
On the down-spout side of things, you could use a chain in lieu of a downspout.
can't change the overhang as the other side of the gable is a long run.
I'll think about the chain. maybe for such a short roof I can get away without anything.
