From a brocure for Carefree recycled lumber products…
“What joist spans should be used installing Carefree recycled plastic lumber for decking or will extra support be required?
“Joist spans can range from 12″ to 16″ deck planks, and may be as great as 24″ for 2×6 planks…”

*Obviouslyb theyare Care-Free.Oh no, are we headed for another industry standards association? ... How about "The American Review of Recycled Regurgitated Garbage Going into Homes" or b ARRRGGH!for short.Jeff
*My house can be the poster-house for this organization. hahahaOh well, back to nailing more trash onto my scuzzy-shack...
*Warning label on a made in Japan tractor:"Caution: Drain water perfectory in cold season for preventing frozen"
*Okay. Japanese and other foreign made things are one thing. How come I have to read an Anderson sliding door installation manual 25 times, get frustrated and then just put it together how it looks like it should still without understanding what they are trying to say? And the pictures? worse.Been reading since I was four. Have journalism degree. IT SHOULDN'T BE SO HARD!MD
*Manufacturers should take a lesson from Velux. Their instructions are virtually word-free, and have pictures that are clear and unambiguous. Much of the credit must go to a product design that lends itself to simple installation, but I wish we had more like this in our field(s). I'm sure there are some other good ones out there...Steve
*Yeah. With a journalism degree, interpreting gibberish should be second nature.
*Was recently installing a Marvin French door. Instructions clearly said do not paint over Marvin clad windows and doors. Problem was we were putting them on the first floor and had installed wood siding above them on the second floor. What to do and if we paint the siding over the door will it void the warranty ? Skip
*No problemo, Skip.Take the doors out while you paint. Waitaminnit, the instructions didn't include anything about drying paint over the doors, did it ?
