We are adding an addition to our house that will include a bonus room over the garage, open to downstairs via catherdral ceilings in adjacent first floor rooms. I would like to take advantage of cooler spring and fall nights by installing a whole house fan but burned in my memory are the old industrial type fans that shook the whole house when started. I seem to recall some advertisements in fh years ago for a quiet, well insulated model with louvered doors that closed in non-use periods. I cannot find reference to this now. Anyone have specific advice on manufacturers and models that are reliable, quiet and provide some insulation value (as opposed to going up in the winter and manually insulating the space). Any feedback is appriciated.
