Whose Liability Ridgevent leaks highwind
After living in a new Custom built Brick home , I had a leak on a 3/12 pitch roof from the Ridge vent on the north side of the house when we had very hard gale like wind blowing in gust, up and sideways. Should the builder be at fault or liable or is this just an act of God, that Homeowners ins should take care of:)?

Even installed perfectly, ridgevents leak in high winds so I wouldn't think the contractor has done anything wrong unless he didn't warn you of this quirk and if you aren't in a high-wind area the warning would probably be considered above and beyond normal practice.
There are some new designs that attempt to keep any wind-blown rain from making in, so at most the contractor could have offered that as a slightly better, albeit more expensive, option if you live in a windy area.
Unfortunately, you're probably going to have to use your homeowner's insurance.
