Bought a new to us house a few months ago. The east side windows have condensation on them on them most mornings, – condensation is on the outside. The windows are Low-E double hung about 5 years old. Vinyl sashes in wood frames. It does it on the wood front door too (also facing east) that has 2/3s glass and 2/3 high sidelights. All this glazing is thermapane (2 pieces of glass).
I don’t really view this as a problem – more just curious.
Thoughts?
I notice it is heavy this morning. Temp right now is 72 inside and 74 outside. I would guess the nighttime low might have been 69. It rained yesterday at about 6:00 PM. for a little while. Daytime temps have been running in the low 90s with. Humidity this time of year is often in the 90% range with more near 60% in the afternoons.
Obviously this is a thermal/humidity thing, but what doesn’t make sense is that night time indoor and outdoor temperatures are pretty similar. We keep the windows closed most all of the time with the AC on. Programmable thermostat is set for 70 at night and 75 during the day – per DW’s instructions.

What temp is your AC set at?
What is the morning's exterior relative humidity?
Your window's exterior temp is below or at the dew point.
Hence condensation on that surface.

I added some eidts to the first post with more data. Here is more complete weather data for our area: http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/27610
I assume the sun striking the windows on the east side in the morning has something to do with it.

> condensation is on the outside
The technical term for this is "dew".
You have reached the "dew point" and the outside of the glass is the place the moisture should be. If you want to continue, get a stick on temp probe and put it on the outside of the glass, check you local weather guru and find out what the dew point is and when that temp is reached you will see the condensation start to form.
it is Dew

As everyone else has mentioned, it is morning dew.
It is also perfectly normal in the right conditions and no reason to worry at all.
In fact, it indicates that your windows are working normally.
