Window details with styrofoam insulation
Hello,
I am building a new house in the Yukon and will be putting 2″ extruded foam insulation on the outside of the osb sheathing (2×6 wall framing). My carpenter and I are looking for ideas for installing the windows so they will be flush with the siding. Our idea is to offset the window 2″ to the outside flush with the foam and add a 2″ ledger board at the bottom of the window outside of the sheathing to provide support to the window. Any other options?
Another question regarding the foam, should I tape seal the joints to improve the wind barrier? Does that pose a problem as a moisture barrier?

you could rip some 2x3's to 2"nail them with 4" nails and fasten windows to those if they have nailing flanges .or 2x4"s flat and 1/2"ply more nailing for window trim
we use 2" foam on the inside of the exterior walls rip 2x3"s to 2" and use that for solid backing for trim ect...
