Yes, in that time honored tradition of home restoration, we have discovered the painful ownership issues involved in…
HAVING A WINDOW ABOVE THE BATH.
Right now, it is some antiquated glass block, badly cracked. I’d like to replace it with something that will work well with the tile surrounding it, hold up under water from the shower, etc.
I don’t splash, but 6’7″ hubby does.
Any creative ideas from my gods of home construction, craftmanship and the trades?
Of course, I like to get it in before the tile guy starts. silly me.
BTW, I am a new proud official subscriber to FH. I’ve been buying it off of the newstand and thought, “what am I waiting for?” So, ding ding! I’m a junkie!

I have installed fibreglass operating casements in a bath enclosure. Returned the tile into the opening. Be sure to pitch the sill area back into the tub. An Do Not forget to specify Tempered Glass in the unit.

Andy suggested Andersen and they are definitely a window we'd like. For your project, did you like a specific brand of window?
Thanks!
I would stay away from any wood product, that is why I chose a fibreglass replacement window. Andersen has a line of replacements I believe. Here's a link to see what they are. http://www.renewalbyandersen.com/window_basics/index.asp
In my area the company I used was ComfortLine. They manufacture here. As the sill area, we chose again a non wood product, tile.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Was this the Comfort Line product http://www.comfortlineinc.com/ and it was sold through Andersen?
Yes, Toledo's own. Sorry I didn't include the link. Give them a call, ask for Brad (big polish sounding name w/lotsa letters) and tell him I sent you. Best of luck on your project. Now that I think of it, don't know if they'll sell to a homowner. Definitely ask for Brad.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

I've installed many windows in bath areas but I'm not a big fan of it.
Far as pitchin the sill goes? No way. DON'T HAVE A SILL!!!!!! No reason.
Tile around the entire window and where the sill would go use tile (tilted of course).
The less wood such as in an Anderson Narroline is a good choice if it fits your house along with some seriously good marine paint where ever the wood is.
I hate vinyl windows, why bother.
I do however think glass block has its place.
One of the nicest applications I ever did in a shower stall (5x8) was the entire wall in GB. the bottom five feet was the block you cant see images (just light) through and above that was clear block to the woods and sky.
You also can get sections to fit in that open....might as well look into it.

I put a round window in slightly above chest high made out of fiberglass and window man had a fiberglass jam and casing made in the same diameter This fit so well that I just caulked and painted wih a polyurathane paint two coats. I've checked several times in the last monthes and still no cracks.

I MAY DISAGREE WITH WHAT YOUR SAYING BUT I WILL DEFEND TO THE DEATH YOUR RIGHT TO SAY IT.

FWIW I had a Narrowline window in a shower area and in the five years I lived there, there was absolutly no problem.....and to mention......there was no water directly on it, just moisture.
