All,
I need to replace 4 windows on a home which has vinyl siding. The house is 4 yrs. old. The windows have the narrow trim. What is the easiest way to free the windows without having to remove a lot of siding? Is there a shortcut to widow replacement on a house w/ vinyl siding? Lastly, do I need any special ‘vinyl siding’ tool?
Thanks,

Theres no shortcut. You need to pull the siding around the windows. You'll be buying new J channel and replacing it. But the siding itself you should be able to free up without destroying it. Pull it, flash the new windows, put your J on, reinstall the tupperware, go home.

I've found that those vinyl siding "decoupler" tools really help when installing new windows. Uncoupling the siding around the old window makes it easier to get in and you can even pull a few of the nails holding the siding near the window and get some wiggle room. You need room to nail the new flange. Those tools are cheap anyway.
