   I haven't used them before, but met Tuesday with the local Serious rep, got pricing and if we had to order windows for our next project house right now it would be Serious 925 series. U1.1 for 1k +/- per hole?

   "Serious Windows". They are appropriately named.

   What do you mean by U 1.1?  Many windows have U-factors in the range of 0.3 to 0.4.

   A particularly good U-factor for a window would be 0.14 to 0.25.

   So why are you talking about U 1.1 ?

   Meant to write ".11".

   They offer a .09 series also, but they are too expensive for my blood.

   I heard the US Bureau of Labor Statistics was going to remove Pella products from the category of items called "durable goods". They don't count as such.

   Whatever you do, focus on glass choices since you've decided on fiberglass frames. The glass will make or break the energy and comfort performance and it doesn't matter what frame you have ... you can put any type(s) of glass in it you want.

   This it the most commonly overlooked part of window selection. People choose windows and either ignore glass or simply choose the wrong products for the wrong reasons.

   This is a big investment and may only be made once (hopefully), it's an opportunity to do a good job.

   Churches can be ... um difficult if you are talking stained glass, etc. Or are these 'other' windows elsewhere? Location (weather) and window orientation are major factors in choosing proper glass.

   Frames do matter, Clewless1.  I'm pretty sure that's what is holding many window companies from getting below U.2 with fiberglass.

   I don't disagree w/ you. You misunderstood. Once you choose frame, though, my point is, people frequently ignore the glass. And out of the entire window assembly, it is the glass itself that controls much of the heat loss/gain. I'm not trying to minimize frame qualities or say they aren't important. Assuming relatively similar (within reason) quality of frames, the biggest factor will be the glass choice, though in the overall performance and ability to control sun and heat loss.

   channel/poccket design in FG frames makes a large diff in conductivity so it is not just the glass. No reason to focus only on one and not the other

   I wouldn't use Pella.

   I would suggest you take a look at Marvin Integrity commercial if it's fiberglas that you want (pultruded in Marvin's case).
