   Google on "Blaine Hardware"...they have a myriad number of window replacement parts.   Good service and delivery, but.......Get out your wallet....the market on older replacement parts is WOW!

   Ya dont need springs.

   They sell a piece of flat metal thats sort of bent a bit

   You slide it up along side the jambs by the sash and the pressure bend keeps the window taught and slides up and down without falling.

   uhhh, less than ten bucks and works great.

   Be taught without falling and I'm 53
