I currently have Andersen terratone windows, with no window trim. I plan on redoing the siding with Maibec WC shingles pre-treated with the cabot bleaching oil (anyone use the Waska’s with Olympic?)
I have found a place with clear white cedar dimensional lumber (5/4) for trim and corner boards. If I did white cedar shingles, does it make sense to trim out the windows with this white cedar (bleached on site w/cabots) to match the weathering of the siding?
Do you think it would look better to do this trim vs just using the andersen window casings as the “trim” and running the shingles right up to the casing?
Thoughts on this?
Thanks so much,
Ian

Depends upon the house design, wouldn't you think? Contemporary, colonial, gothic, etc. Some designs invite stark trim and others demand framing.
Just use some caulking.

As Barmil said, it depends on the style you're going for. It is not uncommon to see Andersens finished with supplemental trim, as the stock frame is a little skinny for many styles. Follow the usual rules regarding flashing, etc. Cut rabbets in the back of your cedar so the casings lay flat over the Andersen flanges.
