I would like to frame a window well using treated wood and then apply cultured stone to the visible parts to match cultured stone on exposed parts of an adjacent basement wall. Any thoughts on this especially regarding making it sturdy enough and whether I should pour a concrete footing for the wall.
Any help would be appreciated

if yer gonna pour a conc footing, why not just form and pour a concrete window well, skip the 4 X 4 and stick the stone to the conc ..
Why use PT wood? If you are going to the trouble of pouring a footer then either pour the walls for the well as suggested above, or build the well walls from concrete block. Another possibility is using precast retaining wall blocks for the walls. These come in many sizes & colors and some are even made to look like stacked stone. The advantage with these is they have the built-in stagger that slopes the wall properly and most don't need a special foundation or extra reinforcing if the wall is less than 36" high.
BTW, is cultured stone approved for use below grade?
