A friend of mine wants a replacement window installed. Thats not a problem, the problem is the window jam is all one piece. There is no inside stop or parting stop. It looks like the window was assembled in all one piece then installed.
How would you remove the sashes since there is no stop to remove. I don’t want to just sawzall off the wood thats there. Anyone ever see this before?

Don`t recall having ever seen a window done that way...I`m trying to picture it. You`re saying what would be the stop and parting strip is actually part of the jamb itself? I`m assuming this is a double hung.....and the jamb was dadoed to accomodate the sahes? Yes?
If I`ve got this correct, hows bout breaking the glass and then busting up the sahes to get them out. Fill in the recessed portions of the jamb with firring strips and order a replacement to fit within. Add your own, new, stops afterwards.
