“Long time lurker, first time poster!”… bonus points to the member who names the movie that that line is, sort of, ripped off from
I’m looking at 2 quotes from 2 different suppliers that are within peanuts of each other, but I can’t decide which to buy. What do you guys think??? Don’t worry, much detail to follow.
Aluminum clad, clear pine interior, double hung, 6 over 1, simulated divided lite windows. Big windows. Some of which are taller than I am. Yes, each rep quoted screens and 2×6 walls. The sizes are almost exactly the same and they both put in tempered glass where required. So what to do. Here it is:
Lincoln vs. Peachtree
Tell me what you think.
And thanks,

So which in your area has the best reputation for after the sale service?
I don't know Lincoln, but what I've heard of Peachtree going downhill over the years on service would keep me facing the other way.
I used to like Peachtree but that was twenty years or more ago.

A Bud of mine did Lincoln clad exterior green.

Hope that helped.

Might want to compare the specs.
Some 3rd party has all of the spection on windows. Think that it Fenstration REsearch Council or something like that.
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
It's the National Fenestration Rating Council (http://www.nfrc.org). Actually, I don't think they do a lot of independent testing, maybe some, but I think they just publish the data provided by the manufacturers though I could be wrong.
As for the choice between the two window manufactures, I'd also consider U values and infiltration factors (info should be available at the above website if they are members of NFRC.
My understanding is that Lincoln is a better window than Peachtree but that they have un-conventional sizes so their rough openings are non-standard. Did you check the RO's to confirm that the quotes are identical?
I used Peachtree on our last house and the experience was flawless. We got the top of the line with the Zoe glass that has the self cleaning coating and had the factory install crew set them in the openings. Every thing went perfect.

"You cannot work hard enough to make up for a sloppy estimate."
I spent 90 minutes on hold with peachtree trying to get a page faxed to me on how to replace the rotted center on a 10 year old door. The leak also destroyed about 4 sq/ft of plywood subfloor and 2 joists.
Hope this helps.
