Wire hose clamps vs standard hose clamps
Question for all of you plumbers out there:<!—-> <!—->
I need some advice connecting the drain hose of a dishwasher to my disposer. Are hose clamps (the standard stainless steel banded variety) interchangeable with wire or spring hose clamps? The Bosch dishwasher I’m installing came with two wire hose clamps that attach to either end of the rubber collar that connects the waste hose of the dishwasher to the corrugated dishwasher drain connection on the disposer. The supplied clamp is too small to fit over the large diameter drain connection on the disposer. Will a standard hose clamp work or am I asking for trouble? Also is “spring hose clamp” the proper name for this thingamajig? <!—->
Thanks in advance!<!—->

Yep, the standard SS worm clamps should work just fine. Be a little careful to not overtighten, though.
Another option is a device I have that can bend plain wire into a clamp. Gets the joint just as tight as with a worm clamp, the main disavantage being that you can't work the device very well in tight spaces.
Dan,
THanks for the advice! I was concerned that the wire pipe clamp would fit inbetween the "serrations" and result in a tighter connection, but I guess my solution is ok.
Thanks!
