We just completed a home and the owners have decided that they would like a dimmer to control a light fixture. The fixture is controlled by 4 way switches. The HO only wants one switch to operate as the dimmer and that switch is at the end of the loop. We have found several wireless systems that could work, but unfortunately they require replacing all the switches on that circuit. The devices are costly and we have 2 or maybe 3 of these separate fixtures to deal with. The HO is aware of the potential for additional costs, but we would like to do this as economically and efficiently as possible. What ideas does anyone have? Would wireless switches be an option? Thanks in advance for any ideas. If anyone is interested in seeing our work, our website is CSCBUILT.COM.

Well if they are controlled by 4 ways there are also 3 ways in the circuit.
And you can get 3 way dimmers. They are basically a 3-way switch combined with a dimmer and cost only slightly more than a standard dimmer.
But you can only dim them from the one place. Which is what you say that you want to do.
However, if you realy want to be able to control the light level at any point there are Smart Dimmers.
One unit is a dimmer and the others are slave controlls. Cost about $30 at each location.
