Wiring a relay for hydronic heating only
I am having difficulty wiring a relay, thermostat, and circulator pump to go on when the thermostat calls for heat. Does anyone know of a book or can advise me on this topic? Thank you.

Is it new?.............usually there is an enclosed wiring diagram in the pkg. :>)
If it has lost its paper work....check the inside of the cover for a schematic.
If none of the above ........then go to Google and search out the manufacturer on line, usually there are spec sheets available to print from a PDF file.
If still none of the above...tell us the name of the mfg on the relay! Maybe someone will have the correct info at hand.

Can you go to a distributor and have them print out the suggested wiring diagram for the relay?
Or, if it's a honeywell or white rogers, post the number, might have a diagram from my system.

Is the relay supposed to turn on the circulator pump?
Frankly, if you can't figure out a circuit that simple, you'd better get someone else to help you.
This is the book you want:

Thanks to all of you that replied. I contacted the company, White Rogers and saw the error of my ways.
Also, to Dan H., lose the attitude since it was the same sort of reply I got from another plumbing monkey expert.

Glad you could cure your problem!
Your last comment was good!
I look at his forum as a place to receive help not undeserved abuse/sarcasm.
At least not without an attached ;>) !

The White Rogers company contractor rep. was very helpful and sort of walked me through the wiring process. I have little experience with this type of wiring since I am a carpenter contractor by trade, but I really like radiant type heat systems. This one is in the horse barn I built. My house, which I built also, has seven zones and is a pretty complex system compared to the one in my barn. I wired it to a great extent since I completed a residential wiring program at a tech school. Unfortunately , we did not discuss this type of electrical connections to and my instructor is not in the state where I am doing this work. Sort of lost touch with him since I moved about 4 years ago.
Thanks to all for the help and I am going to buy the book suggested by you all, Quick and Basic Hydronic Controls, by Carol Fey.
My point is that this is about the simplest relay-type circuit you can come up with. Anyone who understands the basic concepts should be able to wire it up. If you don't understand the basic concepts, however, there is considerable risk a fairly dangerous wiring error.
