Ok, you might have noticed I’m ready to buy some tools. I have a fairly well stocked van and shop. Been paid for a number of jobs recently, bills are paid, savings are good. I want to buy some tools! What would you buy?

What kind of work do you do? What tools do you have now?
I would buy tools that will make me money and last a long time....
Remodeling, custom cabinet work...
There you go.... I'd like another Caterpillar. Great for demo. Last auction had a nice rubber-tire 910 with bucket and forks. Unfortunately it also had a reserve of $22k, which nobody thought reasonable.
Smaller, you say? OK, you have a good tablesaw fence? How about stock feeder? I just acquired a substantial metal lathe as I frequently need some pieces for my old machinery. Now I've gotta learn how to make it go. First project is a 20' building tie rod. Second is a part for my Powermatic wood lathe to get the variable speed working again. I already replaced their switch with one that reverses.PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!
How about a Festool saw & vac? Or the new Domino? Maybe a small power feed for your router table or a good door planer. Can't ever have enough routers or laminate trimmers. A batch of Jim Chestnut's miter clamps. A nice new toolbelt. Or a new set of cordless tools. Can't go wrong with a PLS 2 laser. Got a 23 ga. pinner? Or an impact driver? Good ladders & plenty of extension cords are always nice too.
Sometimes if I got some extra cash in the business account, I'll buy duplicates of some tools so I have one for the shop & one for jobsite use.
OTOH, a few buck into your retirement fund today will turn into big bucks down the road. (Jeez,, I'm starting to sound like my dad)
Happy shopping!
