I worked on a house 12 years ago for an officer of Universal Forest Products(a major player in the wolmanized wood industry)His house had a regular concrete footing and then a wolmanized basement wall. It was built with 2x6's sandwitched between 3/4 wolmanized plywood. The outside was then wrapped with some sort of membrane( not sure if it was just a roofing paper or what). This wall had a 40 year warranty---not what I would want when building a 2 million $$ house! I haven't been back to see if it is still standing or if the bugs are having a giant block party. My advice stick with concrete.
*HI Garry,Disadvantages:Limited to soil conditions and backfilling materials.Limited warrantee.Inferior load capacity.Inferior lateral resistance capacity.Limited to the exterior finishes available.Hard to repair when caved in.Impossible to plug leaks.Advantages:Cheap for the average DIY to install himself. With proper membrane is dry and comfortableIt won't become the foundation of choice and is certainly not my choice.Gabe
