I have a wood deck (pressure treated) that is about 8 years old and has been treated every few years with a semi-transparent redwood colored treatment (Behr purchased at HD). So basically I have a red deck. My wife wants to go to a lighter color (in a brown). What’s the best way to get rid of the red, so I can go to a lighter brown? Stripping agent? Sanding? Something else? Whatever I do, I dont’ want to damage the plantings around the deck (this deck is only about 18″ off the ground). Any help and insight would be great.
Thanks, David

You could pressure wash it, but that will raise the grain. Be sure to let it dry brfore staining. You could sand it, but any nails that stand proud will snag the sandpaper.
