Hey all,
I have a customer that is interested in wood eavstroughs for his barn. The barn is a historically accurate design in old Niagara-on-the-Lake and he doesn’t want to ruin it by putting on a modern gutters. I suggested wood (not having a clue what I was talking about)
Your input here “wood” be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

I re-did a barn that had a simple gutter over the main door. It was made of two cedar 1x6s nailed together to form a V and was mounted against the siding on site built brackets (also wood). It functioned pretty well.
Also available are solid fir gutters. I recently replaced one that was 32' long without any seams. Had to special order it from my yard, I think it was about $14/ft. While the gutter itself is about 4" square in cross section, the actual water groove is only about 1.5 inches. square. Not much actual capacity, so if the barn has a lot of roof to drain, it may not be a good choice. High maintenance as well, so if it is up really high, or if the HO is otherwise not inclined to keep it clean and painted, is probably not a good choice
You wouldn't have any pics of it would you?
Dave
Which one are you interested in? I don't have pictures of either, but the 1x6 isn't too far away. The one piece fir is close to an hour away.
Which ever is the most convenient for you to get
