House has a concrete slab floor, currently carpeted, looking at wood flooring options. One is to use engineered flooring and glue to the slab. Second is to use engineered flooring, glued together and floating on the slab. Third option is to install a 3/4″ ply layer, then nail solid flooring to it. Most obvious problem with the plywood option is the increased thickness. Need opinions.

Consider using Bostik BSTureathane adhesive to glue down 5/8 exterior plywood as your nailing surface, then one of the 1/2" thick unfinished tongue and groove wood strip products (Pennington and Artemis come to mind). Your total thickness build will be about 1-1/4". Use 1" flooring staples to fasten the wood floor to the plywood. That is what I am considering.
Howzat sound?
Do you own this project or is it a professional case of "I can't see it from my house"? I would say the former dictates laying a sound subfloor as noted. The latter dictates an adhesive glue job, floating, nebulous, potentially buckling thang.HD
The HO and I are in the serious discussion stage of the remopdel, trying to determine what can be done and for how much. Options are open right now. I forgot about this discussion, and started one just now about wide pine flooring...'preciate your thoughts there.
