Have nearly decided to change the flooring in first floor LR after the debacle on second floor w/ installers. Floor is concrete slab, sealed. Want to put a prefinished hardwood 3/4 inch on it. Know I cannot glue directly to concrete.
What is best way? Wood floor must join a granite tile floor that is about 1/2 inch thick. I want to put down 3/4 inch PT plywood then nail HW to that. Practical? Reasonable? Do I have to put sleepers under the ply? How do I take care of the difference in elevation between the HW & granite? It will be at least 3/4 inch.

You can do the ply as a glue-down, using Bostik's urethane adhesive, then nail or staple the finish flooring to the ply. I don't believe P.T. ply is a must, when doing this. The Bostik material is a satisfactory membrane for isolating the ply from the concrete slab.
You can also consider using Sika's AcouBond system, really cool, a little pricey, the mat and glue will cost somewhere about $1.50 / sf. Read all about it by going to the Edelweiss Flooring website, and following the links to the Sika information. The wonderful thing about the Sika method is the slight spring in the feel of the floor when it is walked on, because of the 3mm or 5mm closed-cell foam mat between you and the concrete.
