Due to a shower curtain mishap on my part I dumped a pint or so of water on the bath floor. Floor is old pine over tar paper over 1x subfloor (120 yr old house) with a clear finish on top. The finish is not in great shape.
I wiped up the water on the surface and did not think any more about it until i saw the next day that two of the boards had cupped badly. I am guessing that the water went thru the floor and sat on the tar paper causing the wood on the back side to swell and cup the board. It is t&g floor and has broken the bottom of the groove and is up about 1/4″
I am thinking of wetting the board from the top and trying to steam it a bit with an iron. Anyone have any other ideas.
Thanks, Gary

Just give it plenty of time to dry out, it probably will settle back down.

Yeah, just give it time.
When I saw your post title, "Wood floor vs. water" I said out loud to the screen, " Water wins every time"
With time like others have said, it should flatten out or at least leasten. I would'nt add any heat to it only a small fan at most.
No one should regard themselve as "God's gift to man." But rather a mere man whos gifts are from God.

Thanks, I will just ignore it and see if it fixes its self. That is what I usually do with my stuff after spending all day working on everyone elses projects.
Just wait for it to dry first, maybe direct a fan over it.
