I saw the post about cupped flooring and it got me thinking. I am going to install engineered hardwood on the floor of a small room at my house. It is above an open pier and beam foundation. There is some fiberglass insulation under the floor but very poorly done. I will be replacing that. Where should I put the vapor barrier?
I was thinking since it is such a small room (120ft) that I could use a roll of I & W for the vapor barrier on the plywood decking. Felt paper would have hundreds of penetrations with the nails so wouldn’t the I & W be better?
Is this the proper place for the vapor barrier or should it be under the plywood?
Thanks,
Ken

Yeah- a question I know the answer to. The vapor barrier should be on the ground in your crawlspace. The felt under the floor is really just a slip sheet, not a real vapor barrier. And if you have drainage problems that are putting water into your crawlspace, then take care of those or the rest will likely be for naught.
