wood flooring over plywood over concrete
I have a weird request from a client – they want to know if I would install wood flooring for them – they want me to glue down plywood, then nail the flooring to the plywood. I’ve never done this, nor seen it done. I’ve glued wood flooring to a slab, and I’ve put in those “floating” floors with interlocking pieces over a cushion. But never this.
Is this a legitimate installation procedure? Anyone done this, or heard of it?

Seems like anything is possible thesedays. To do this procedure I would suggest using Bostik Urethane adhesive with a 1/4" notched trowel and a spread rate of 30-35 sf per gallon. Plywood will have to be kerfed on the backside so it lays flat into the adhesive. Edges may lift before the adhesive grabs. Expensive? Yes. Figure cost on 75 to 80 cents per square foot for adhesive($125 per 5 gallons)
Thank you!
Look at page 4.

Very helpful - thanks! Looks like any way I go, the cost pretty much doubles with the glue-down plywood subfloor.
