I’m looking at a house in Lyon County – Southwestern Minnesota – that has a wood foundation. Small town, surrounded by rural area.

Is there anyone on the forum from Southwestern MN that could tell me if wood foundations are typical for this area? I’m not familiar with wood foundation myself. Why would a contractor not use concrete? Are wood foundations less expensive?
