We’re building a home in the coastal redwoods of Northern California and want to use knotty pine or other solid wood panelling to finish the interior. With the heavy winter rains and humidity and dry summers, we’re concerned about moisture infiltration if we don’t seal the interior with traditional painted sheetrock. The exterior will be watertight and breathable with Tyvek, but what about the inside? Do I have to use a barrier under the panelling on the exterior walls?
