Hey Everybody,
I haven’t posted to this site for quite some time due to always being so busy. I was just wondering how busy you all are in different areas of the USA. Here in my part of Texas things have sure slowed down. Talked with my hardwood supplier who spoke of parking one of their semi’s. I sure hope we arn’t going into a recession. Opinions?

Oh no! It's the dreaded recession thread again!!
I'm in south eastern NY and there is more work than you can do. i could probably keep at least 2 or 3 of me busy.

We're on the way! Willing to work 6 hours per day, 4 days per week, one hour paid lunch, all tools and truck provided, wages per Bob Kovacs collective bargaining agreement. As contractor you leave us the most interesting work, not like Mike who poaches the cool stuff and makes the crew hump.
You'd probably find work like that, no problemo!
Job I was on today, electrician x2 leaves for lunch. Comes back as 4. One of the new guys just walks in the house ( I had no idea who he even was) heads for the crapper, stinks the whole friggin house up, clogs the toilet, and yo yo yo for about 45 minutes giggling about what he did. i got so disguted I went home.
HO will be shocked to find the mess they left along with the clogged crapper.
They insisted upon hiring the sparkie outside of our co.

Everything I see across the state is pretty much booming.
Just go on down to Joe Allen's and have a nice ribeye. That usually makes me feel better about things anyway.
Busay? Gawd Yes!
Of there was a recession things would slow down so I could get some reswt
If things picked up a little more, I could sub it ALL out so I could get some rest.
or if things would just slow down a little bit, I could go back top working alone, and get some rest.

Frank,
Come home to Ohio.
If it's not busy down in wherever you're thinking of going, keep a truck big enough to get the goods to NW Ohio.

Is this just a midwest thing? I hear painters that have been in biz 25 years say its never been so slow here. I have drywallers who are bidding things at 60 cents a foot, (yeah, matls and labor) saying I know I'm gonna lose my shorts but I stay busy. I know 3 places that folded in the last month and two since Xmas that moved out of state. My suppliers call me now wondering if I have work for them?!?!? I don't know what to make of it. Its slow and it stinks and its hitting a lot of people here. The guys I always said would be the last to get slow are dead in the water.
Sure is a shot of humility. Winter always comes, I always see some get slow, but never been there. I'm looking at a commercial job in Omaha tomorrow, which is an hour drive, but it beats the immediate alternatives."A bore is a man who, when you ask him how he is, tells you." -Bert Taylor
I don't know. I was thinking there was a potential for Christmas slowdown continuing until spring. However, the phone rang and this past month was eaten up. Now I'm slightly behind again with more work to sell.
I have heard that some of the niche contractors have had to change gears which usually means layoffs and a plethora of new self employed guys available. Still, the base I've made is still producing work. I am thankful.A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.
