Hello I just wanted all of your opinions on this. I have two workmans comp injuries from my current job. One was my fault the other was not. My question is would that make you think twice about hiring me? I have a very small limitation from the one in my shoulder. I know that I should be upfront and tell the perspective employer about them. I’m just wondering if it would be a problem in getting a job. I am looking at moving from my current job back to remodeling or home construction. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I currently have a guy working for me that has a previous comp claim for back injury. That is usually a red flag as far as hiring for physical labor businesses. My approach is as I did in this case is to ask about it and ask what happened. If I feel comfortable with the circumstances and feel the person is being honest about it I will consider hiring them. If I think they are less than honest in any way I won't hire them. DanT
The fact that you got hurt is a consideration. If you work, it can happen.
I would be interested in the scope of the injuries and how they affect you on a regular basis.
I would also be looking to see if you are playing the system. Don't like to see that nonsense.

Does the previous injury keep you from working safely or being productive now?
If so, then yes, I would tell them. Simply state what the issue is.
If not, then I wouldn't see the need to tell anyone, unless you feel it's not that cut and dry, (then go with your gut)...Buic
first the legal side of it ---
Wheether it is your fault or notr makes no difference.
I have never been asked if I have had a comp injury in a job interview.
I have been told that as an employer, I have to be very careful how I ask about your health history. I can't ask for explicit details. I can ask if you have any health infirmities that would reasonably prevent you from doing the __X__ job. I can't fire you for injury. I can fire you for lying to me in your job application.
legalities aside -
I can make you life miserable if you are dishonest with me or play the system. I can work with you and reward you well if you are honest and work your best.
