I have just realized that the wrong grout was used on my bathroom wall tile. Sanded grout was used on 4″ tile. Does the grout need to be removed and un-sanded grout used or can the sanded grout be left in place until it fails. Will it fail sooner because it is sanded??

The tile was standard 4" wall tile with approx. 1/16" to 1/8" spacing, the grout seemed to go into the spaces fine but I wonder about the adhesion.

I typically use sanded grout in walls with grout joints 1/8" and larger, and am sure it will not scatch the tile. The sand will give you a stronger joint. So, unless it scratched your tile, or was installed improperly, it should be fine. It must have been pretty hard to get the grout in a 1/16" joint. Try lightly scratching one of these "thin" joints in an obscure area if possible, to see if the joint was filled or the grout is just on the surface.
