We are partially excavating into a space under our house to create some storage. There will be a wall about 4’high, holding back some fairly moist soil. With limited access, what do you suggest I put on the exterior of the wall after I strip off the concrete forms. I’ll have about six inches from the soil before backfill. what should I put in that space to reduce moisture penetrating this space?
I’ve thought about a heavy plastic covered with a thin layer of hard insulation (to protect the plastic.
I also thought I should install a perforated pipe drain at the base of the wall. Should I put the drain pipe on the exterior side of the wall, covering it with gravel?
Any other suggestions on where to get info on this?
Thanks!
