Greetings.  I was reading the January 2004 FHB article “Does Fiberglass Insulation…..” and saw the “better” sample house insulation with 2 layers of 1″ XPS foam attached externally to the sheathing.  I would like to consider this in a house I am presently framing and need more of the gory details…. such as how is the XPS attached?, how does it effect window and trim installation? , how are the furring strips for the siding attached?  Also, this has probably been written up someplace, probably in FHB (I am a recent subscriber and haven’t seen it ).  Does anyone have any references?  Also, any experiences both from the builder and homeowner perspective are appreciated (I will be both in the house I am building).
