This past weekend I bought a 9 piece set of hole saws by Dewalt. It was a good price so I couldn’t pass it up. Anyways, this past week I found an online tool company not too far away from me that has a nice selection of tools so I gave ’em a call to get a price on a 4″ Dewalt hole saw. The person who answered the phone was very helpful to talk to but told me something interesting – that their retail customers don’t like Dewalt hole saws because the hole saws don’t stay sharp for very long. Apparently their customers prefer aother brand name called Irwin.
I’m curious as to what brand of hole saws you guys have found to be the best for keeping their sharpness. I’d like to buy some more hole saws and probably will buy those newer types by Milwaukee or even Bosch hole saws.
Thanks kindly

If it has to cut, you can't go wrong with Lennox.

Milwaukee used to be good, probably still are, but the last two hole saws I bought were lenox. I hate the way the white lenox paint melts and turns to wood glue though.
Lennox owns Irwin, or vice a versa so that may be why Irwin is getting better? Not sure

"Lennox owns Irwin, or vice a versa "Neither, they are both owned by Rubbermaid. But one could still make stuff for the other brand..
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
Neither, they are both owned by Rubbermaid.
Close to my point!
Lenox or Milwaukee...

The Lennox single tooth hole saw is the only one I would buy anymore..
That thing is slick.. I hate having to fight the plug out of the hole saw and the lennox simply drops it out when the hole is finished..
However if we're talking about wood then you must use Milwaukees self feeding hole saws..
Those are wonderful!
quick smooth holes with no plug to get out and sizes all the way up to 4 & 5/8ths..
I'll bet I drilled close to 4000 holes in my house with them, maybe more! This was in hardwood, either white oak or black walnut. I also used them to drill out waste wood for mortice and tenions plus electrical outlets..
Of course if we're talking about furniture grade work you must use Forstner bits.. to avoid tear out.
Bosch with the quick change mandrel.
So far so good but then again I don't tend to put a lot of miles on them.
