Recycled Oak Arts and Crafts Floor
I collected this flooring for 12 yrs from all the old homes I remodeled in Lake Forest il. Some of it was nailed with square nails.
Made from 1/4 sawn red and white oak, cherry, bamboo, maple, and walnut. Also used flush oak air vents. The 155 gal. bow front aquarium stand is a project in progress. Wrapped in cherry with a maple case, seaweed carvings and inlaid seashells, bowed raised panel doors. Set up for salt water live rock with RO and moon lighting.
The wood in the center was left over from a job made of old growth, reclaimed from underwater, white oak.
The two corner hutches were salvaged from a 1940s home theater in a mansion we remodeled. I completely rebuilt them by cutting the top down 6", raising them 2 3/4" with new open toe kick bases. added bead board on the back to lock in glass shelves, touch on off puck lights with access door on top, and customised antique 4" brass hinges from the same 1940 stucco house.
There are several hidden removable pcs. with coins recessed and secured on back.
There is no rhyne or reason to this pattern. I looked online for some ideas and couldn't find anything. (opportunity?) The compass seemed a good influence as the house sits North to South. The best rule: Keep it simple stupid.
