At the International Builders’ Show here in Las Vegas, Bosch gave us a preview of the newest developments in its line of layout tools and laser levels.
The new GLL2-80 was on display. This new compact laser level provides 360 degrees of full plane coverage in horizontal and vertical applications. It features what Bosch calls a “Smart Pendulum Leveling System”, which self levels and indicates out of level conditions. The unit can be mounted on a tripod, or attached to a metal track with integral base magnets. The unit, which weighs a little over 20 oz. has a range of up to 65 ft.
The guys at Bosch also showed us the new GTL3 floor and wall covering laser. This tool provides a 0, 45, 90 and 135-degree layout at the touch of a button. The real development, though, is that the unit is elevated so debris or tools on the floor no longer obscure the layout laser.
I have to admit, we tried very hard to show all of you the latest compact tools from Bosch. Matt Berger and I got a preview of their latest compact drill-driver and compact impact driver, which are still under development. We published photos of each tool here, and quickly got a call from Bosch. Bosch U.S. and Bosch Germany weren’t having any of it, and we were forced to remove them. But, be patient. We’ll have full coverage of those tools as soon as we get the okay to do so. What I will say, is that the new tools are pretty slick and I can’t wait for our tool editor, Justin Fink, to gets his hands on them for testing.
