Does anyone know where to get T&G flooring that is a full 1″ thick?
A 1913 house near NYC needs some such flooring (preferably in fir, for a covered porch). Actual size is about 1″ thick and about 3-1/16″ on the face.
Any help would be appreciated.

I would call my main man at lumberyard. He would call his lumber broker.
Three days or so and he would call me back to say, this is how much it will cost, and it will take X days to deliver after you order it. Special order, no retuurns.
I would also recommend you look into Tendura for this

Try Bear Creek Lumber. They have Fir T&G and will do special orders. bearcreeklumber.com
Thanks for the suggestions!
When I lived in Washington, they called that "Cardecking", but I wouldn't have a clue as to where to find some. I bought a large quantity in cedar from a local lumber yard in Port Angeles about 12 years ago to make a porch floor.
I thought the "cardecking" was the 1-1/2" thick T&G. I'm used to 3/4" thick T&G, so this 5/4 stuff is new to me.
Fellow northwesterner!
ya that 1 1/2" stuff is cardecking
if you are in Seattle environs I'd call Blackstock Lumber - somehow at the moment that is not sounding right but it is on the road from downtown to Magnolia area
it aint easy to find in the south Puget Sound area and trying to be resourceful I've used say little nickel or the like and ended up getting some nice VG material but it was POORLY gauged - discovered after help had painstakenly primed all twelve edges and harbored in a dry basement for a fortnight to cure - do you continue & lay & ruminate the endless hrs of floorsanding an exterior porch or go to the nearest tavern to confirm your two steps back?I think it was Piffin who recommended Tendura - I'd go there too esp. if you don't find 5/4 within a phone call or twoand that VG fir will be about the most expensive lumber one can buy
good luck
John,
Yes, Blackstock is the name of the yard you're thinking of. Limback in Ballard is also great. I'm very fortunate to be so near to the both of them. The box stores are simply crap (big surprise!) compared to what I can get from Limback and Blackstock.
Funny how VG fir is so expensive now -- it's literally more than hardwoods. Fir used to be so cheap around here that I've even seen 9/16" beadboard used as underlayment for strip oak back in the 20s and 30s. That same beadboard will set you back around $3 or $4 a square foot now.

Architectural Woods Inc, in Tacoma, has always sold t+g vg Fir (have to bow my head when I say that)flooring. I haven't asked abut it in a few years, but I'd be surprised if they don't stock it.For sure they would mill it if you needed it and by some chance they dn't keep it in stock these days.Remodeling contractor who once visited the Glass City.
Hey Jim how you doing?
can I / should I meet up with you & purchase that tablesaw cart?
and yes they will mill it ( do not carry it in stock & very little else in moldings these days ) but you'll pay up the guazu & a few Mercedes leases too
Salud, John
Good, John, doing really good.
That saw stand/cart is still there whenever you want it. Let me know next time you're out this way and we'll try to connect...hey, I have to come in to Tacoma for supplies in the next few days anyway, maybe we can hook up for a (quick) cup of coffee?
Life is good. Very busy, but good.
You're right about the cost of fir flooring, or anything else milled from vg material these days. But what the heck, that's the going rate and if you need it, you need it. I was just throwing out a supplier where I'd look for it since you Puget Sounders mentioned those places up North.
I'll give you a call before I come into town.
