i stop at Lowes tonite… marble thresholds are $5 there… and i needed 7 more…
well i have to cruise Lowes… hunt’n the yellow “clearance” signs… they have had 2 1000ft rols of 12-2 well pump wire with a ground for at least 3 years… best i can tell they never sold a foot… 91cents a foot… so a few months ago it’s on clearance for 21cents a foot… which if you were in need of well pump wire… that just might be a deal?…. so tonite i’m tool’n around the electrical area… and it’s now 6 cents a foot…
and i’m the proud owner of 2000ft of the prettiest yellow well pump wire you have ever seen… folded down the rear seat of the forester… made it squat a bit… but…
i know i have a sickness… now i just have to drill a well? 🙂 thought it might be good stuff to rewire my boat house with?

LOL!
You are a sick man! You might be able to strip it and sell it for scrap and make a little pocket money LOL.
Is that stuff insulated and suitable for anything other than wells?
I would think... very insulated... for "submerged use" i would think... if you can use it underwater... you could use it underground?
it looks like those thick flat yellow extention cords....
with #12 stranded go'n for $40 500ft i figured i had 3000ft of stranded #12 per roll thats $240 their price....
who knows... for $60 a roll... besides i won that much at lunch today (casino is 10 min from jobsite and i had a free lunch coupon) so i took my winnings and invested em in copper :)
:)p
Wait for copper to go back up to 2.75 per pound and make it into the big top.

Sealed does not equate to insulated. You can't used undergroud wire for in house wiring....I think. I'm a framer not a sparkie so I just don't know. I'm just wondering if you are stuck with something that is basically useless....not that you'd mind LOL.
I use Hubble ends and submersible pump wire for my extension cords, trouble lights, and equipment cords.
Excellent Score!
do you actually use all this stuff or just buy it because it's a good deal? :) i do much the same thing except i use what i can and then have an auction every so often i usually make out pretty well people will but anything at an auction!
I'm cursed... with have'n a pretty good idea what i'll be doing years in advance... and knowing what i'll need to do it...
for my loft project... much of the material was purchased 5-7 years in advance... i can draw a building... lose the drawing... build the building 5 years later... find the drawing after... and it's always just about dead on.... not just buildings but anything... trailers... car or motorcycle restorations... I'll buy stuff knowing i'll need it 5-8 years down the road...
I'm about ready to have a sale... the problem is i have 6 building lots... 5 next to my loft project... and one next to me at the lake house... so i hate to shed things i know i'll need.... I have not lived at my parents house in over 20 years.... my dad has for the last 20 years said "why don't you get all those engines and motorcycles out of the garage"... but I know exactly where I'll use much of the stuff... the loft is full of old pine church pews... that i have a use for :)
yep it's a sickness BUT i have an extra life insurance policy just to pay to empty all my stuff... so DW won't have to deal with it or worry over it's value... should some of my "good stuff " fall and kill me...
I have been good about selling my bar & restaurant equipment... knowing I NEVER want to work that hard for so little again... i sell a few things a week... and have yet to make a dent... but...
i have not been to an auction in years... I'm a pretty good buyer (value wise) but it's the time I don't have... a day at a sale = 3 days gone... one to buy 2 to move what you bought
sometimes stuff is better than money :)

been there ! hey i've got about 2,000 cabinet doors maple ,oak, and cherry left getting tired of them being in my way. so i've resorted to burning them in the woodstove and giving them away.want any? also about 150 cedar gable vents all shapes and sizes and many feet of fypon trim window hdrs etc. just had an auction18 montha ago and need to have another to bad you weren't closer.
I would have done the same thing....just can't resist a bargain!
sunday was worse... i had to use 40ft of rope to tie all the stainless steel sinks on the roof of the forester....
I guess HD is no longer going to have "ELKAY" sinks.... got $269 ones for $69... $75 for $19 ...
even went to a different HD last nite picked up 2 more of the long single bowl farm type sinks... were $347 for $69...
the sinks i do have a need for right now... so it was filling a need and get'n a deal

You'ld better quick go and buy a dump trailer ;)
Now you can tie everything down with "well wire" instead of rope... that ought to double your load capacity, easy...HD's probably getting out of the wiring business as well - make room for more toaster ovens...Seriously though, I'd bet your wire has something stamped on the sheath that someone here can interpret for you. If I had to guess, I'd say "xhhw"-t
Rez is going to real Proud of you!

LOL for me a "shed" would be like walmart needing a parking spot... yeah i could fill it but it wouldn't put a rock chip... much less a dent in what i need.....

Gonna cost a bunch to drill a 2000' well.
There went your savings.

That won't work, what would he stand on?

PT,
A while back I had to change my well pump, on the 4th of July, it died the night before. The old one was a 125v that was not grounded (2 wire), and the ONLY ONE left at the big box was a 250v, so I bought it. Read through the instructions.........Romex and 3M tape (the good stuff "301") are all you need, as well as the supplied heat shrink tubing to install it.
I think "well pump wire" is a marketing thing, like "truck" motor oil.
