Any recomendations on a blade for stock trimwork on a 12″ compound miter saw? I’m looking at a freud diablo 80T and a similar Irwin.

I like the Diablo.

I Love A Hand That Meets My Own,
With A Hold That Causes Some Sensation.
My current blade- Dewalt makes a pretty thick 12" blade that won't "flex in a miter cut" (dw7649 about $78.00). Saw them at HD, also toolcrib.
Anything above 60 seems fine. Both mine have 60s (B&D) in them, but I have an 80 Excalibur on hand that I like well.

I hate the diablo ...
best bang for my buck is the DeWalt.
80 teeth ....
I have 2 "series" ... one came shrink wrapped ... the other in a brown cardboard "envelope" ... the enveloped one was their top of the line.

Yeh, got my dewalt 80t (in the big cardboard envelope) at HD on sale for $44.00. Great blade, should have bought both on the shelf.
great price ...
was it recent?
I think I usually pay about $80 or so ...
will have to do a quick walk thru to check HD.

I wonder who Default has making blades for them?
Someone here said their drills are crap.
I would think that they would be having thier blades done by a low bidder.

I can't afford to be affordable anymore
I have that same 80T DeWalt. It is a decent blade, but I only use it for hardwoods.
Paint grade pine, a 40T is just fine.Men come of age at sixty,
Women at fifteen.

Sorry I took so long to respond. I Do this at work, too busy at home. I got it early Dec. Was a yellow stickered item at $44.00 (not selling fast enough, or new item comming to replace it). I only saw three at the time, and bought one. They now have a new package with two blades in it. I think 40t & 80T. But, they don't look as thick. Toolcrib has does have the thick ones at $78.00.

Get the 100t one. (Bosch makes a 96t) The cuts are perfect with no chipping, tearout or sanding necessary.

If you want the best cut go with a Forrest. They are made in Clifton, NJ. I've been to there shop. Small place. Every blade has the carbide brazed on by hand. They leave a cut as smooth as glass.
You can spend alot of money on blades, but if you are not working with solid stock maple/ hardwood trim it can be overkill. The stock DW blades called 40 series make nice doorstops. The DW 60 series blades have seriously hard carbide and will breeze through hardwood. Most of the hardwood flooring guys I know swear by DW 60 series blades.
I have a few Freud 80T blades, I like them for general trim, they last a decent length of time and the thin kerf keeps down the sawdust. You'll also find 80T blades are more reasonable to have re-sharpened as most places charge by the tooth. Each blade can be sharpened a dozen times at about ¼ the price of a new blade. There is usually one place in every city that does a decent job at sharpening, and about a dozen others that suck. The boys (and girls) in the trade will know where to go and who to avoid.
Forrest Blades are top of the line. They are machined and precision ground to an accuracy of 1/1000th of an inch. The carbide is so hard the have to be returned to the factory for re-sharpening. A local shop could easily turn a Forrest blade into a Freud.

I have been using Dewalt blades for 12 years(nearly the whole time I've been contracting) tried others and within days they became roofing and under cutting blades(frisbees!)in my hand circ saw they can cut nails and still cut a little trim...
In my chop-saw,81/2" one blade seems to last an eternity...
SCRIBE ONCE CUT ONCE!
I have the Forrest Chopmaster, and it's a great blade. I used it recently to trim a room's worth of laminated flooring (the alloc stuff with aluminum backing), and it's still cutting glassy smooth.
