I am installing 12v under cabinet lighting in my kitchen. I want to have the wiring in the wall so it is hidden. I have 120v ac to the trasformers which are located in the basement below the kitchen. What kind of wire should I use between the 12v transformer and the lamps? I am not too conserned about voltage drop because the wire run is only 10feet or so.
Thanks

Romex? (type NM-b)
I suppose I could, but the wire coming off the transformer is 18ga lamp wire. I was hope to use something smaller than romex.
Generally, I'd be inclined to use the wire sold for the purpose (which is a heavy-duty lamp cord). Most of the lamps have insulation-piercing connections that are designed for this style of wire.
You do need to protect the wire from damage a bit more than romex, and it may be wise to feed it through "Smurf tube" (blue flex conduit) vs just stapling the wire in place behind the walls.
(Though you might want to consider using romex for the main run through the wall, then splice (wire nut) to the standard LV wire in a box near the lamps. If you do this be sure to somehow mark the romex as being low-voltage.)
Thanks that is helpful.
