I have a Jet 15 inch planer that is two years old. It was leaving three marks, the entire length of a board. Even though blades did not show wear, I changed and put in new blades that were honed before installing. The planer was then tuned up to factory specs at least 8 or 10 times. The full length marks have disappeared. However, now there are 1/4 to 3/8 inch spots randomly placed over the entire board; they look like scuff marks. The planer was tuned by a second person, to no avail. I need HELP!
Thanks
Chuck

Chuck,
Is your planer dust-collected? I have a 20" Tiawanese planer that had a poorly fitted chip deflector. It allowed the shavings to land on the outfeed side of the cutterhead (despite a 5" line sucking the chips away) where they then got mashed into the wood by the steel outfeed roller. I was able to fix it by making my own superior copy of the warped plastic chip deflector, using Duron (two-sides smooth Masonite). Problem solved. If your machine has a urethane outfeed roller the problem will not be as severe as mine was. And my guess may be entirely wrong! Hope this helps.

*BillThink I have the problem fixed. The spring was to tight on the out feed roller. But a new problem, a deep scratch the full length of the board,is there ever a end? Thanks for your help.Chuck
